When I was 14 years old, a seventh grade student, my father gave me a small gift for my birthday. It was an album of a music group. I didn’t like it first, because 13 songs in that album were in English and I don’t know little of English at that time. However, day after day I learned how to speak English step by step and then I could listen to the pop music. I repeatedly listened to the album that my father gave me. That’s how I met Westlife and their music.
I became a big fan of Westlife. Whenever I feel down, I listen to their songs, especially the first album of them. For almost 7 years, it is their first album that makes me happy.
Everyone can make the perfect ramyeon with my special recipe. The point of my ramyeon is that it doesn’t have any soup. This ramyeon is called ‘Bibim Ramyeon’. To make it, you need a few things to prepare. You need a small pot, a big spoon, chopsticks, a bowl, three cups of water(600ml), a package of ramyeon, an egg, a cucumber and two spoons of Kochujang. First, pour 600ml water into a pot and boil it for about 5 minutes in over-medium heat. Then, put ramyeon noodles into boiling water and wait for another 5 minutes. After that, remove the water, add chili powder and two spoons of Kochujang and stir all of them. If you don’ like spicy food, you can remove Kochujang. Next, chop up the cucumber or you can grate it, too. Then, add pieces of the cucumber into the ramyeon noodles. Lastly, break the egg and put it on the top of the ramyeon. Now you can serve and enjoy your special Bibim Ramyeon. You’ll love it!
There were three candidates running for the Korean National Assembly in my hometown. They were Lee Jae o, Jang Jae won, and Moon Kuk hyun. Their political parties were Hannara, Chinbak, and Changjohankuk respectively. Mr. Lee and Jang are for the current president Lee Myung bak. However, Mr. Moon is against the president, so their political perspectives are somewhat different from each other. I don’t remember exactly about the election last year, but I can tell the difference between this year’s election and last year’s one. There were much more people who voted for candidates they wanted. This year, however, the percentage of people who voted was less than 45%. It shows that people get less interested in politics gradually. Besides, candidates get much richer than ever. Of course, becoming a politician requires a lot of money(which is not understanable to me), but the gap between normal people just like us and candidates who are running for elections is getting bigger and bigger. I think that is why I’m not interested in issues related to politicians or political parties.
I didn’t vote on the election day becauase there was no one I wanted to support. I just watched TV polls and got information who won in my hometown. The winner(?) was Moon Kuk hyun and I felt nothing special about it. I think this election is pretty important because it is one of the processes to make Korea improve. I feel guilty about deciding not to vote, but I don’t want to pick ‘anyone’ that I don’t know. In addition, I think it is a good idea to have a day off on election day because people need some time to think and vote. I hope I can vote for ’someone’ next year.
My perfect day would be spent at home in the countryside with my family. The weather would be sunny, but it would not be hot. My family would like to have a barbecue party in the garden. We’d eat barbecue, sausages, and chicken. We would have a great time together, talking and laughing. After that, we would watch a movie in our living room. We’d watch wonderful movies such as ‘A Beautiful Mind‘, ‘The Dead Poet’s Society’, or ‘Good Will Hunting’. Then, I would help my sister with her homework. At night, we’d go to sleep at around 11 or 12 o’clock.
My favorite blog is ‘Federer Magic’. It is about Roger Federer, a famous tennis player who is my favorite. It shows you the current tennis matches which are related to Roger Federer, and results from matches. I think this blog is much more useful than others because it has infromation not only about Roger Federer, but other tennis players such as Andy Roddick and Rafael Nadal. I try to read this blog every day. Besides, I like to compare other blogs about the same topics : tennis, fashion, or movies. Of course, I read other English and Korean blogs. For example, there are Sorry I Love You(Korean drama) blog, Zombie movies blog, and I Am Fashion blog.
I would like to go to Ireland on my dream vacation. It is famous for its beautiful views everywhere, Irish cuisine and pubs. Republic of Ireland is the third largest island in Europe and it is one of the most beautiful islands in the world.
I want to visit National Museum and National Art Gallery of Ireland in Dublin City. After that, I’d like to go to the Guiness Brewery. I heard that it is the largest brewery in the world, so it would be so much fun. Then I would go shopping and look around. Taking a break in Phoenix Park would be great, too. In Ireland, spring and summer is the best time to visit, so I want to go on vacation in this summer with my sister. Actually, I prefer to go alone, but going on vacation alone can be dangerous(especially in Europe). I would stay there for about two weeks. It’ll cost me about 4 million won. I think it is not very expensive, unless I spend a lot of money on purchasing. Anyway, there is one way to get there: by airplane.
I’ve always wanted to go to Ireland ever since I was 14. When I was a middle school student, I became a huge fan of Westlife. They sang beautifully, and I found out that they came from Ireland. Since then, I’ve decided to visit Ireland and experience their culure.
There are so many programs I want to talk about, but I will pick just one.
My favorite TV show is “Friends”.
It ended a few years ago, but there still are reruns on many channels.
I usually watch “Friends” on Korean channels such as “Dong-A” or “OnStyle”.
This show is kind of a sitcom, and it is really really fun. I watch a couple of episodes everyday.
It was about six characters. Rachel(Jennifer Aniston), Ross(David Schwimmer), Monica(Courteney Cox), Chandler(Matthew Perry), Phoebe(Lisa Kudrow), and Joey(Matt LeBlanc). I like Rachel and Joey the most. They are both really funny. Rachel is so fashionable and Joey is hilarious.
Except for that reason, this program means a lot to me. When I started to learn English, I was sick and tired of all of complicated English grammar. My father recommended me to watch Friends. That’s how I learned English. I paid close attention to what they’re saying and language they use in real situations.
I almost understand everything without any translations.
Well, I’m trying to watch other TV shows, but “Friends” will always be my favorite.
